What is the Disabled
and Elderly Waiver Program?
The
Disabled and Elderly Waiver program is provided by the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Care Services Department. In order to
receive services through the D&E Waiver, a person must be granted an allocation from A
-Meet certain financial guidelines and
-Need assistance in at
least 3 activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, shopping, cognitive assistance,
meal preparation, bowel and bladder assistance.
Through the D&E waiver a consumer is provided a Case Manager who oversees a plan of care that
can include services from many different agencies including
Homemaker services or in home respite
Private duty nursing
Environmental modifications
Occupational and Physical
therapy
Speech
therapy
Assisted
living
Emergency
Response Services
Adult
Day Health
Homemakers in the D&E
program will provide either homemaker services or respite services for the consumer.
Homemakers
provide general household services and support necessary to maintain the consumer in a clean and safe environment and also
assist the consumer in their daily activities of life. Homemaker services are non medical services.
